About the FIRST VOLUNTARY SURGICAL HOSPITAL

The first voluntary surgical hospital is a medical facility that was established in the first days of the full-scale invasion on the basis of a private aesthetic surgery hospital with 14 beds of a 24-hour inpatient unit, and which began to provide free assistance to victims of russian aggression on March 7, 2022.
The activities of the hospital are aimed at carrying out surgical reconstructive interventions (orthopedics and traumatology), restoration of physical and mental health of military and civilians using evidence-based and modern methods of medical and social-psychological rehabilitation. A unique feature is that it continues to work on a voluntary basis, free of charge, with the aim of providing quality assistance to those in need. Over 400 military personnel and over 5,000 civilians were treated during the 2 years of operation at the hospital.

At the hospital we have a powerful operating room and enough staff to perform 2-3 complex surgical operations daily. But taking into account the limited size of the clinic - only 4 wards with 14 beds, the throughput is about 250 patients per year. We need additional wards and a rehabilitation room. This will make it possible to conclude a contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine and receive funding from the state.A plot of land next to us, allocated by the local authorities, will allow the construction of an additional building, increasing the capacity of the hospital by three times: from 250 to 700 - 1000 patients per year, depending on the design of the building and the construction budget.

Currently, there are no unified standards for the reintegration of veterans at the state level. Taking into account the increase in the number of combatants who find it difficult to return to civilian life, we consider an effective comprehensive approach to the reintegration processes of the veteran community in order to create an optimistic life scenario for veterans and improve the psychological well-being of society as a whole. The project was created to promote qualitative social changes in the direction of reintegration of veterans, their family members and residents of communities in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, building new models, approaches and solutions. The veteran space is a friendly place for combatants and their family members as an opportunity to hear and evaluate requests and provide quality sensitive service. In addition, the space is also a platform for the consolidation of public and charitable organizations, communal and state institutions, media, socially responsible business for the sake of quality synergy.

Patients undergoing medical and socio-psychological rehabilitation at the First Voluntary Surgical Hospital come from all over Ukraine, so it is difficult for their relatives to come and be with them for financial and organizational reasons (hotel rent, travel expenses, etc.).The ultimate goal of rehabilitation of a combatant is to return him to the social environment as fully as possible, the first and main component of which is the family. The idea of creating a family rehabilitation center is that families can come from out of town and be with their loved ones during the period of treatment after an injury. This is the gap between medical rehabilitation and a full return to society. The possibility of combining rehabilitation (medical, physical, psychological) with measures of return to the family (such as resocialization) will help the family and the combatant to find understanding of each other and learn to live in new conditions.
